Yes. Navy Junior Wrestling is open to the public, you do not need to be a service member to participate.
The Navy Junior Wrestling season runs from early November through the end of February, with registration taking place in September. In addition, the program hosts informal “mat nights” during the spring and summer months to give wrestlers opportunities to stay active and build skills in the off-season.
Registration for Navy Junior Wrestling is $325, plus the required cost of a USA Wrestling membership card. In addition, all Navy Junior Wrestling participants will have the opportunity to access Cary’s full training content for just $10.
All visitors age 18 and older must present a valid, government-issued photo ID to enter the Academy. Acceptable forms include a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license, a U.S. passport or passport card, or an enhanced driver’s license (from approved states). Visitors under 18 without photo ID must be accompanied by an adult with valid identification.

Parents will have the opportunity to apply for a Naval Academy parking pass. Applications are distributed during the first week of practice and typically take 2–3 weeks to process. Once approved, you may park on Academy grounds in designated areas. Parents and wrestlers without a pass will need to park outside the Academy and enter through the Visitor Center at Gate 1.
Navy Junior Wrestling is open to boys and girls in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Wrestlers must be at least 5 years old at the start of the season.
Each wrestler will need a pair of wrestling shoes. Headgear is optional for practices but is required for all matches.
No prior wrestling experience is required. Navy Junior Wrestling welcomes beginners as well as experienced athletes, and coaches provide instruction appropriate for every skill level.
Practice for the novice team (Plebes) is Monday and Wednesday evenings. Our advanced team (Seals) practice on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings. Final times are determined prior to the season.
Matches and tournaments occur on weekends and usually begin in December and run to the end of February/beginning of March. The schedule for matches and tournaments will be finalized and released at the beginning of the season.
